Reference project: Single-family house with KfW 40 plus energy standard, near Günzburg

  • Year of construction: 2013
  • Type of construction: KfW 40 plus, including photovoltaic system and accumulator
  • Area: approx. 195 m²
  • Heating system: DIGEL HEAT infrared heaters
  • Heating power: 5.6 kW
  • Number of heating elements: 7 Classic infrared heaters with a power consumption of approx. 2,000 kWh/year
  • Additional heating: 1 Swedish stove (1,000 kWh/year)

Good planning of the building shell, a suitable property and a sensible coordination of home technology are the secret behind this concept. Low-cost loans and high repayment subsidies from the KfW (German bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) are another advantage to this manner of construction. The yield forecasts for the photovoltaic system were exceeded and the estimated power consumption was significantly lower than expected.

In summer, the amount of electricity generated and fed to the grid is almost twice as much as has to be purchased in winter. The balance is therefore €0. Hot water comes from the service water heat pump, which also operates very efficiently at approx. 1.5 kWh a day.
